To download head on over to the Nintendo eShop on your Nintendo 3DS and you will be able to get the demo. The demo does have a restriction that you can only play 30 times. You will be able to either play two modes: one is the story and the second is free play.
limit 30 |
story or free play |
Whether you choose the story or free play with a little exploring it should take around 20 minutes to beat the level. You should come back and go through the level in free play for sure if you decide to do the story first.
In the story you will have the ability to switch off between four characters Frodo, Sam, Pippin, and Merry. Each has their own little abilities ranging from fishing, lighting a fire, and digging a hole to uncover Lego pieces.
You will have to switch between the characters to be able to progress the chapter. When a character on the bottom screen fades in and out that means that character is needed for the current objective.
The chapter you will get to play is from the the first book/movie. I don't want to spoil it, just in case you decide to download the demo.
Go back in Free Play mode because you will have more characters to use and you might need them to discover hidden treasures in the game. Two characters are left unknown and you need to to do some exploring so you can figure who they are.
By the looks of it each character will have further wardrobe versions to associate them with. Some of the character like Gandalf the Grey and Boromir have the unique ability when you hold down the Y button on the 3DS they use a more powerful attack. Use these attacks to find the hidden treasures.
Hidden Secret, Can you find it? |
One last thing, a bug might also be semi spoiler since it happened at the end. Do not read further if you do not want the ending of the demo revealed. During my time going through free play when lighting the Nazgul on fire the AI I had out blocked one of them from running away. The Nazgul then stayed glitched in place not continuing with the cinematic death. This did not let me finish the free play and required me to quit and begin again. Here's photo proof of what happened to the Nazgul. I could continue to attack it with the sword and set it on fire, all it did was scream. Hope the issue does not continue on final release.
Will you download the demo? Are you excited for the Hobbit movie?
